The Bauerfeind ManuLoc Rhizo Wrist Support Long Plus is an extra-long hand orthosis and provides stabilisation of the wrist, thumb and fingers. Three anatomically pre-shaped aluminium bars keep the wrist straight and provide relief. These bars are not pliable but can be adjusted if required by an orthopaedic instrument maker to ensure optimal support. This wrist brace stavilises the forearm and reliably restricts extension, flexion, and rotation movements of the hand.

Although immobilisation of the joint is paramount at the start of treatment, during the course of treatment it is important to train the muscles to ensure full recovery.

Using a Velcro closure, the thumb's range of motion can be adjusted in a controlled manner. Once the thumb has recovered, the thumb orthosis can be removed completely. This ensures that all fingers can again be used for picking up objects, but at the same time the wrist remains stabilised and the risk of injury is minimised. The Wrist / Thumb Brace has therefore been used for this purpose with great success for many years.
