Umbilical Hernia Belt
What's an umbilical hernia?
An umbilical hernia is a bulging of the peritoneum, caused by an increased pressure in the abdominal cavity or subsidence of the abdominal wall. When pressure is exerted on the abdomen, for example by pressing or lifting, the peritoneum bulges out. These symptoms often occur after/during pregnancy, obesity, heavy physical labor, coughing or certain diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver. To prevent these abdominal complaints, it is recommended to wear an umbilical hernia belt.
How do I put an umbilical hernia belt on?
You wear an umbilical hernia belt as if you were wearing a belt. It is intended that the gel cushion pad, is placed on the belly button. You then tighten the belt until it feels tight, but at the same time comfortable. You then fold the belt around the backside of the belt.
Can I reimburse my umbilical hernia belt?
In many cases, an umbilical hernia belt might be reimbursed by your insurance company. However, we can not say this for certain. It is very important for you to check your policy for reimbursement of medical equipment such as braces and other support products. If you are insured, you can reimburse the purchase amount from your insurance company.
